Sen. Urhoghide Accused Government Agencies For Not Appearing Before Its Committee
The chairman senate committee on public accounts and Senator Representing Edo South Senatorial District (PDP) Senator Urhoghide Matthew has accused the ministry of Finance and some government agencies for not appearing before the the Senate Public Accounts Committee (SPAC) to defend how it has been managing the funds approved for the agencies.

Senator Matthew made this accusation while haven a media chat with Prime Reporters at his office in National Assembly. Discussing some of the achievements and challenges of his committee.
Recalled that earlier in the year, the Senate Public Accounts Committee (SPAC) exposes the current and past management of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) .
The committee said it has discovered that the fund’s management failed to produce relevant documents to justify alleged spending of N17.158 billion in 2013.
Some of the documents to back the expenses were said to have been eaten up by termites.
Senator Urhoghide when asked about the challenges which the committee have been facing claimed a lot of the ministries have not been appearing before the committee and he gave instance of the federal ministry of finance.
He said “ A lot of Miniseries and Agencies don’t even appear before our committee. For instance, the ministry of Finance and that is supposed to be the ministry that is in-charge of our treasury, Revenue and Expenditure”.
Furthermore, the lawmaker claimed some of the appointees of President Buhari often act as if they are above the law. He said “ you’re compel to go and give account whenever you’re invited by a committee especially the public account.

But a lot of appointees of the President often believe they are above the law and this is a government that is on the mantra of anti-corruption.
But every other members of the government apart from the president are dirty minded people who does things in a manner that contradict the intentions of this government.
