In a startling development, the spokesperson of the opposition coalition and Federal Lawmaker representing Ideato North South Federal Constituency of Imo State, Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, has accused supporters of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, of orchestrating the bombing of the Action People’s Party (APP) headquarters in Rivers State.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Monday morning, around 2 AM, with the party’s National Chairman, Uche Nnadi, allegedly narrowly escaping harm. The APP has substantiated its claims with photographic and video evidence capturing the aftermath of the attack.

In a statement personally signed by Hon. Ugochinyere, he urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to direct security agencies to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for the bombing, warning that such actions could jeopardize the nation’s democracy.
“Political extremists and terrorists who are desperate to make Rivers State ungovernable bombed the party headquarters, which was just renovated ahead of the Rivers LGA Election,” Ugochinyere stated. He further accused the perpetrators of attempting to suppress the APP’s growing popularity in Rivers State, where the party is widely regarded as a leading contender in the upcoming local government elections.
This incident marks the third time bombings have allegedly been carried out by individuals described by Ugochinyere as “Abuja elements” aiming to destabilize Rivers State. He called on President Tinubu to take decisive action, warning that inaction could be interpreted as tacit approval of these violent acts.
“This is time to act before it’s too late, Mr. President,” Ugochinyere concluded, emphasizing the urgent need for a response to prevent further escalation and protect the integrity of Nigeria’s democracy.
The APP and its supporters await the government’s response as tensions rise in Rivers State ahead of the local elections.
