House Committee Pledges Legislative Support at NIS 50th Anniversary

The Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Hon. Kabiru Amadu, has reaffirmed the National Assembly’s commitment to the advancement of sports education in Nigeria. He made this pledge during the 50th Anniversary Celebration and 9th Convocation Ceremony of the National Institute for Sports (NIS) at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, on Wednesday.

Hon. Amadu, who attended the event as the Special Guest of Honour, was accompanied by committee members Hon. Adedayo Olumuyiwa and Hon. Sadiq Tafida. In his keynote address, he congratulated the institute on reaching this significant milestone and assured stakeholders of continued legislative backing to enhance its growth and impact.

He emphasized the Committee’s dedication to elevating the NIS into a National University of Sports, a move aimed at strengthening sports education and development in the country. Hon. Amadu also commended President Ahmed Tinubu for increasing budgetary allocations to the institute, describing it as a crucial step in fostering excellence in sports training and administration.

The convocation ceremony, which brought together dignitaries from the sports and academic sectors, celebrated the achievements of the institute over the past five decades and its contributions to sports development in Nigeria.
