Secondus didn’t mince words as he directly challenged Wike to clarify the alleged proceeds received from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) during his tenure as governor, particularly concerning the Ogoni oil wells. The accusations come amidst an ongoing feud between Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara, with Secondus’ camp claiming Wike’s actions aim to destabilize the state.

Ike Abonyi, spokesperson for Secondus, conveyed the former PDP chairman’s sentiments, citing Wike’s purported attempts to demarket the state due to Governor Fubara’s crackdown on fiscal leakages. According to Secondus, Wike’s alleged directive to his aides to continuously attack Fubara and other state leaders in the media is both unwarranted and diversionary, further escalating tensions.

In a bold move, Secondus called upon President Bola Tinubu to intervene, urging him to caution Wike against further stoking political tensions and to allow Governor Fubara the freedom to govern in the interest of the electorate. Secondus highlighted his past support for Wike’s political ascent, expressing disappointment over what he perceives as ingratitude and disrespect from the FCT Minister.

These allegations add fuel to the already heated political landscape of Rivers State, raising questions about the motives behind Wike’s actions and the potential implications for the state’s governance and stability. As the feud intensifies, all eyes remain fixed on the unfolding drama, awaiting responses from the accused parties and potential intervention from higher authorities.
