ABUJA – The Federal Ministry of Finance has emphasized the importance of strategic resource allocation and prudent management to drive Nigeria’s development priorities and foster economic prosperity.
Speaking in Abuja during the 2025 budget defence session before the House of Representatives Committee on Finance, the Honourable Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, said the 2025 budget was meticulously crafted to align with national priorities. According to her, the budget focuses on key areas such as economic development, infrastructure enhancement, and sustainable fiscal practices.

Dr. Uzoka-Anite, who represented the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, underscored the Ministry’s critical role in formulating fiscal policies that promote economic growth. She reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to building a stable and resilient economy in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, and other Directors, Dr. Uzoka-Anite presented and defended the Ministry’s 2025 budget proposal. She assured the Committee that the Ministry remains dedicated to achieving the government’s policy objectives to improve the lives of millions of Nigerians.
Mrs. Jafiya, in her presentation of the 2024 budget performance summary, noted that the funds allocated had been primarily utilized for overheads, personnel expenses, and limited capital projects. She stated that the proposed 2025 budget includes additional provisions to address critical needs, including essential upgrades to the Ministry’s headquarters, which she described as vital for improving operational efficiency and service delivery.
The Chairman of the Committee, Honourable James Faleke, commended the Ministry for its comprehensive presentation and assured the team that the proposal would be thoroughly reviewed.
The session concluded with acknowledgments of the Ministry’s pivotal role in ensuring fiscal stability and promoting sustainable development for Nigeria’s future.
