Edo State Speaker Suspends Three Lawmakers Amid Impeachment Allegations

The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, has taken decisive action by suspending three lawmakers, including a close associate of Philip Shaibu, the ousted deputy governor.

The suspension, announced on Monday, comes amidst allegations that the trio was plotting to impeach Agbebaku and other principal officers of the Assembly. Donald Okogbe, a member of the PDP representing Akoko-Edo II, known for his allegiance to Shaibu, was among those suspended. Notably, Okogbe abstained from endorsing the petition that led to Shaibu’s removal from office.
